Dr. Carla Míguez is a lecturer in the Department of Special Didactics, Area of Didactics of Language and Literature at the University of Vigo (Campus de Ourense) . She holds a BA in Translation and Interpretation [Spanish (L1) -English (L2), French (L3)] from the University of Vigo (2014) a MA in Teaching in Secondary Schools, Vocational Training Centers and Language Schools (Foreign Languages)  and a MA in Occupational Risk Prevention, both from the University of Vigo (2015 and 2016). In October 2016 she started work on his PhD on the relationship between metacognitive abilities and reading comprehension in Spanish in children aged 8-11 years old, under the supervision of Dr. Miguel Cuevas Alonso and Dr. Ramón González Cabanach (Univerisidade da Coruña) in the Ph.D. program "Programa de Doutoramento en Estudos Lingüísticos" at the University of Vigo. In 2017 she was awarded the Academic Excellence Award within her Ph.D. program. She received funding from the Universidade de Vigo research grant (2017) and the Xunta de Galicia research grant (2018). She successfully defendeded her thesis (international mention) on 22 October 2021 and was awarded the highest qualification. 

Carla's research focuses mainly on reading, especially on reading comprehension in elementary school students. She has also worked in other topics such as language acquisition, innovation in education and discourse analysis.
