Anastasia Beloborodova holds a BA in Foreign Languages (2022) and an MA in Advanced English Studies (2023) with a specialisation in English Linguistics from the University of Vigo (Spain).
In the final year of her BA degree, she was awarded a grant from the Spanish Ministry of Education (Beca de Colaboración) to work as a research assistant in the Department of English, French, and German at the University of Vigo (from November 2021 to June 2022). As such, she worked on the compilation and codification of the Gibraltar Component of the International Corpus of English (ICE-GBR).
Her MA thesis titled ‘Non-categorical variability in World Englishes: The clausal complementation profile of deny in Pakistani, Indian, American, and British English’, supervised by Elena Seoane, is a contrastive study that focuses on the structural and semantic predictors of non-categorical variation in World Englishes.
In February 2024, she joined the PhD programme in Advanced English Studies at the University of Vigo and now continues working on morphosyntactic variation in contemporary Englishes under the supervision of Elena Seoane and Cristina Suárez-Gómez. Her PhD dissertation is part of the research focus of the 'Language Variation and Textual Categorisation' (LVTC) research group in Vigo, specifically within the scope of its project “Variation in English Worldwide” (ViEW) (funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, Grant Number: PID2020-117030GB-I00)."
