Goele Deckers studied Clarinet and Music Theory at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel (Royal Conservatory of Brussels), obtaining a Master of Arts degree in Music Theory in 2013. She continued broadening the scope of her knowledge at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Vigo where she pursued degrees in Composition and Musicology, as well as a Master in Music Research. For her degree in Musicology in 2020, she earned not only an Honarable Mention, but also the 'Premio Extraordinario Fin de Estudios' of the Conservatory and the 'Premio Fin de Carreira' of the 'Xunta de Galicia'.
As well as an interest in music history and analysis, Goele has always had a passion for languages. She worked for 6 years as an English teaching assistant in nursery and primary schools in Vigo (Galicia, Spain) and is currently a self-employed tutor in both music and English. Her research interests are centred around 20th-century music and the bond between music and language. She is currently working on a PhD on 'Characterisation in the opera The Death of Klinghoffer', under the supervision of Rosalía Rodríguez Vázquez.
